Letters: Why did Wike allow anti-SARS protest after banning protests?

The protest led by the social media aide to governor Wike, Marshal Obuzor, against the brutalities of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, F-SARS has not only exposed the hypocrisy in government circles but that of leadership in Rivers State and Nigeria in general.
The Rivers State government in a statement issued through the office of the commissioner of information, Emma Okah, had placed a temporary ban on protests within the state. However, the government failed to provide a disclaimer that officials of the state government and their friends are free to protest at will.

While Marshal Obuzor’s protest against his attack in the hands of F-SARS operatives is commendable and calls for urgent review of F-SARS mode of operation and their constant trampling of citizens human rights, it still left to be seen if the state would have granted an ordinary man like Ibinabo Okire the same opportunity that was given to Marshal.
