Legendary Nigerian reggae artiste Ukeleke Onwubuya, better known by his stage name ‘Ras Kimono’, has died.
Kimono, one of the leading reggae icons in Nigeria, it was gathered, fell ill yesterday, Saturday and was rushed by friends to a hospital in Ikeja from where he was transferred to Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi. He died on Sunday morning despite a planned trip to the US.
Ras Kimono whose debut album Under Pressure, led by the single “Rum-Bar Stylée”, was a big hit in the Nigerian music scene in 1989.
He was age, 60 years.
