Drug abuse on the increase in Rivers State

The rate of drug abuse among youths, particularly sex enhancing drugs is on the increase in Rivers state.

Some of these drugs which include Tramadol,Viagra, Delay spray, MP3,Codeine and others are regularly abused by most youths in the state to prove their sexual prowess to their partners.

In an interview with some youths in the state, they gave reasons why they use or feel sex enhancing drugs should be used.

” I once dated this guy who was a one minute man, the sex was totally messed up, like he goes flaccid within one or two minutes and I was dying of frustration.

” But you know how it is in African countries, we women are expected to massage the egos of men. Instead of saying the truth, we pretend like everything is alright. At some point, I couldn’t take it, so I had to open up to him, and told him to try sex enhancing drugs like tramadol and others but he refused because he was scared of the after effects, so, I ended the relationship.”

Another youth said he uses it in order to last long.

” As a man, it damages your ego to be called a one minute man, you just have to try to impress the woman by doing your best to satisfy her, so in order to achieve that, sex enhancing drugs becomes your option.

However, a medical expert, Dr. George Monye enumerated some of the health implications of over using some of the drugs.

Some patients may require a longer treatment with Ambien (Zolpidem). However, therapy can be prolonged only after the reassessment of the patient’s condition. On website https://holisticdental.org/ambien-treat-insomnia/ the following duration of treatment is recommended: 2-5 days for transient insomnia (for example, while traveling); 2-3 days for situational insomnia (which may be caused by traumatic situation).

“Tramadol isn’t a sex enhancing drugs, it is a painkiller, it is frequently prescribed to manage moderate to severe levels of pain which one may have experienced after going through a surgery or chronic conditions like Arthritis.

” On the other hand, Codeine is also a painkiller which is also good for diarrhea. So,these drugs are not meant for sex enhancements. They are actually dangerous to be taken as sex enhancements because they can lead to serious heart attack or damage the liver.

“They do this by increasing the blood flow and expansion of blood vessels which leads to increase in heartbeat, insomnia and dizziness.

” If the person suffers from cardiovascular diseases, then there is likely going to be cases of heart attacks or even death.

” That’s why,at times, you hear cases like he died on top of a woman.”

The medical expert, Dr. George Monye also advised young people to eat vegetables and fruits in order to enhance their sexual performance.

“Fruits like bananas, apples, grapes, watermelons are good for sex enhancements.

” Ginger, chili peppers, avocado, chia seeds, spinach, nuts are foods one can take to last longer and avoid erectile dysfunction.”
