The CTC Chairman of Akuku Toru Local Government, ThankGod Festus Diri, has expressed his administration’s resolve to tackle the menace of sea piracy in the area to ensure safety along the waterways.
ThankGod Festus Diri stated this in his office, at the AKULGA council Secretariat, Thursday, saying with collaborative efforts with security agencies, the issue of insecurity along the waterways will be contained.
“O the assumption of office, we had priorities to fulfill. One of which is security, we are on top of it. But at the same time, that is the area we are facing the most challenging aspect I will say, with regards to sea piracy.
“We have relative peace on the land, but on the sea, I must admit there are problems. Because every now and then, the sea pirates are operating.
“But we are working on it, with the Navy and the Army. Within the shortest days from now, we would begin to tackle that problem, headlong.
